Welcome to the site of the Gadsden Cycling Team. We are a team that will be competing in the southeast in road races, mountain bike races, Criterium races, cyclo-cross, and triathlons in 2010. The team will consist of 8 to 16 members and we will be competing in over 30 rides and races during the year.
The mission of the Gadsden Cycling Team is to bring together a community of road cyclist and mountain bike cyclist, who work together to provide opportunities for safer and more enjoyable recreational cycling in and around Gadsden, Alabama. We strive to improve public awareness of cycling by serving our communities through educational activities, and maintenance to road bike pathways and mountain bike trails.
The Gadsden Cycling Team is much more than just a select group of riders. Founded on the principles of goodwill, friendship, and competition, we believe in the importance of team spirit, which is often missing in elite and amateur level cycling today. Our more experienced riders are dedicated to sharing their knowledge with less experienced team members. And, in addition to racing, all team members are encouraged to assist in the team's operations and take part in our charitable and community projects throughout the year.
We will be competing in local events like the the Sunny King Criterium in Anniston, AL. This race draws over 3000 spectators, 100 pro riders and over 200 amateur cyclists to compete for over $22,550 in prize money while donating over $40,000 to local charities. The 3 state, 3 mountain ride in Chattanooga, TN has over 2000 participants that ride in this 100 mile event.
